Spring Break Drama
All week the boys went with me to work for their Spring Break. Not exactly fun. So yesterday Lou and I decided to take today off and take the boys to the Science Center in St. Louis, but...Last night Cohen was playing at my Mom's and tripped/jumped on a 10 pound dumbbell. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but apparently it was a big deal! Cohen was VERY loud and upset. Mom got his socks and boots on and I carried him home. He sat in the recliner and fell asleep watching cartoons. I assumed he would be better in the morning, but he cried in his sleep.
So this morning our plans to go to St. Louis were cancelled when Cohen couldn't or wouldn't walk on his foot. I would rather be safe than sorry, so off to the ER we went. We got in and out pretty quickly and were informed that nothing was broken!!! Yay! He's feeling better now. He's walking with a limp and favoring the front of his foot, using his heel to get around. It's kinda cute. :-)

Cohen roller skating
Cohen was watching Caillou on PBS the other day and they were ice skating. He suddenly remembered he had roller skates! So out of the depths of the closet they came. He had so much fun I just had to share it!
Holding on tight (please ignore my recycling in the background!)

Cohen's Thanksgiving Party
2 weeks ago Cohen started pre-school. He finally decided he's ready, so I let him give it a go. He loves it! He goes Monday-Friday from 8:30 - 11:30 am. Which is the exact time I'm at work. So it works out perfectly!!! My nephew Karcher goes there too, so they get to play together all day! Here are some pics of his Thanksgiving party. We got to decorate cookies and cupcakes with little candies, there was also punch that Cohen couldn't get enough of.

A Visit to the Fire Station
So today Lisa and Mandy (Mama's from the gym where I work) asked me to join them for a visit to our local Fire Department. Lisa and Mandy have recently had the opportunity to meet some of our local firefighters at the gym and Mandy asked if we could bring up the kids sometime to see a firetruck? They were more than happy and said to come up anytime...well, today was that day. I met the girls up there and we were quite a bunch, Mandy with her little boy, Lisa with her little boy and I had Cohen and my nephew Karcher. So 3 mom's with four 2 year olds! Quite a bunch we were!Karcher was really scared of the big truck and started crying and yelling "no" as soon as he saw it. He had a death grip around me and I wasn't putting him down even if I really tried! Cohen was loving it. They popped him up in the drivers seat and he had a blast pretending to drive that giant red truck. He had headphones on and everything!
Then the best think happened in the whole world!!! They let us go for a ride!!! I'm not sure if they were supposed to so I won't disclose their names. ;-) lol! Anyway, I took a video of the ride with my camera phone. The video is a little shaky because...well, we were moving! Not to mention Cohen wanted to take video too, and he was all over the place! You can hear Karcher crying in the first video, but he calmed down after just a few minutes. In the second video you can hear the siren that he turned on for us. How cool is that? It was really amazing!!!So thank you, thank you, thank you to the guys at the Mt. Vernon Fire Station on 42nd street! We loved it!!!

Color Explosion Spinner
Cohen got a Color Explosion Spinner when we were in Chicago for the fourth and we are just now playing with it. I finally bought batteries last night! It appears that I lost the dropper and I only have the marker, which doesn't work nearly as well. So it seems that Cohen quickly learned how to improvise:I think we will now call it the Color Explosion Spitter! lol!

Cohen's 1st Official Haircut!
So Cohen's curls are really starting to bother him and Lou thought it was time to take him in for a haircut. I've cut his hair before with the clippers but I didn't want to do that again because I hoped we could shorten his hair without losing all of his curls. So I took him to Jennifer at Hairbenders. He was really excited about getting his hair cut. He talked about it on and off for about an hour before our appointment. He loves getting his hair sprayed with a water bottle. He was more than cooperative and smiled the whole time! You can see in the pictures that his hair was actually getting so long that he was losing curl.

Ice Cream & Exhaustion
Last Tuesday Cohen decided he didn't need a nap, I allowed it. I wasn't thrilled when he was having a tantrum at 6:30 but I couldn't let him go to sleep that early! So I decided we had to go to the store to get ice cream. Aunt Joyce went with my trying to keep him awake. We came home with chocolate fudge ice cream cones covered with chocolate cookie crumbles. Cohen was so tired, but he couldn't resist! He snatched up his ice cream cone and went straight to bed! He was doing good for a while, but when I looked in on him just minutes later he was fast asleep with the cone in his hands! His eyes were still kinda open and if you look close you can see that his mouth is slightly open with his tongue still trying to lick the cone! So cute! He was so mad when I took the melting dripping cone from his hands, even madder when I used a baby wipe to clean up his face! He's so cute!

Cohen in the Laundry Boat!
Tonight when I was folding laundry I sat the laundry basket down on the floor while I folded on the couch. Cohen climbed right in as he usally does. I don't know what it is about kids and laundry baskets, but they want to climb in, hide under or stand upon them! So Lou went into the bedroom and came out with a belt. He looped it over the end at the handle and created something he could hang on to. He dragged Cohen through the house round and round forever! Cohen absolutely loved it. It looked like he was boating across the sea of beige carpet. We was giggling and laughing saying "Again, again!" when Lou would pause to take a break. I didn't think he would ever get out. After a while of me chasing them around trying to film the fun he finally wanted out. Here is a short video of the Laundry Boat! I especially love the end when he's squeeling "wwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Cohen's ET Birthday!
Cohen turned two on January 19th and it was a day that he had the flu. Not too much fun. I had to call everyone and ask them not to come over. My mom & Joe and Aunt Joyce decided to venture over anyways despite my warning. We had a great time though. Cohen has been into ET for a while now and he LOVES watching the movie. So I asked my friend Kari if she could make us an ET cake. She exceeded my expectations by all means!!! Even the trees were edible, they were made from ice cream cones. How ingenious! Take a look for yourself!
She even made a small personal cake for each of the boys. Cohen got ET and Camden got Green Lantern. ET personal cake:
